As COVID-19 continues to cause economic disruptions worldwide, how can we apply new technologies and innovations  to our food production systems and supply chains to help us avoid a pandemic-related food crisis?

The coronavirus is already affecting the entire global food system and has the potential to unleash a food security crisis that will hit those living below the poverty line the hardest. With Asia home to 2/3 of the world’s hungry, the need for investment in food and nutrition security in the region has never been more pressing. Join venture capitalist and Asia Society Northern California Center Board Director Jaleh Daie, in-conversation with  the Director, Asia Beanstalk AgTech, Rob Hulme, as they explore opportunities for the industry in circumnavigating disrupted food supply systems and opening new and life-saving avenues for safe, reliable, and affordable food supplies.

This discussion will be the first in a series exploring the Sustainability Edition of Asia Society Australia’s Disruptive Asia project, a major thought-leadership initiative that looks at how Asia’s rise is impacting Australia’s foreign policy, economy and society and how Australia should respond. In 2020, we ask if Asia’s rise is sustainable – environmentally, economically and socially?

This event is open to the public. Registration is essential, places strictly limited. For further enquiries contact: mailto:[email protected]
