Generation Asia Youth Forum | Keeping Connected in a COVID World

Asia Society Australia | Register

How do we maintain meaningful connections with our shared region despite visible and invisible barriers dictated by events of 2020?

With global tensions on high and much of the world still in lockdown, the concept of international cooperation is increasingly being called into question. As international travel remains on hold for the foreseeable future, the nature of overseas work and study are set to change forever, with our younger generations to bear the brunt of these restrictions and diplomatic pressures in the short-and-long-term. Despite these challenges, young people across our shared region are embracing the digital shift with new mobilities in the online space creating new possibilities for cross-cultural collaboration.

In this special forum we bring together emerging leaders to ask: Are young people our key to maintaining connections with Asia and how do we support bilateral youth and grassroots organisations despite diplomatic tensions at the top?

In celebration of the UN international Youth Day, Asia Society warmly invites you to join our community of the leading Australian and global organisations actively engaged with Asia to hear directly from some of Australia’s prominent Asia-focused youth dialogues.

Our panellists will explore the effects of our new global realities on young people, how we can look to the work of these organisations as a blueprint for maintaining and strengthening our connections with the region, and the importance of continued support for youth multi-and-bi-lateral efforts in ensuring long-term diplomatic relationships between Australia and Asia.
