How do we govern growth sustainably, responsibly and with accountability?

It’s widely accepted that the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, in Asia and globally, depends on effective governance arrangements. Yet the implementation of the 2030 Agenda poses challenges for different actors at different levels and requires integrated, holistic and coherent policymaking involving the public and private sector as well as civil society. For Asia, embracing good governance to build economies that are socially inclusive and environmentally sound will be vital for achieving sustainable development.

Join Director of the Australia Geopolitics Hub at KPMG Dr Merriden Varrall and Stanford University’s Arjuna Dibley for a discussion on the role of the individual, the state and the multilateral system in governing sustainable growth in Asia.

This discussion will be the sixth in a live webcast series exploring the Sustainability Edition of Asia Society Australia’s Disruptive Asia project, a major thought-leadership initiative that looks at how Asia’s rise is impacting Australia’s foreign policy, economy and society and how Australia should respond. In 2020, we ask if Asia’s rise is sustainable – environmentally, economically and socially?
