What is the future of Australia’s International Education sector and to what extent will the rules of engagement shift in the wake of COVID-19?

The novel coronavirus crisis has seen a dramatic halt to one of Australia’s biggest exports: International Education. The start of the 2020 academic year saw Australia-wide university shut-downs, government-imposed lockdowns, and many international students stranded, unable to return home yet unable to participate in Australian everyday life.  With international travel restrictions in place for the foreseeable future, Australian institutions are now in uncharted territory. As delivery models shift online, can international student recruitment prove the same adaptability?

Asia Society Australia warmly invites you to join CEO of International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) and Looking Ahead contributor, Phil Honeywood in-conversation with Pro Vice Chancellor (International) of Macquarie University, Nicole Brigg, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement) of the University of Queensland, Rongyu Li, for a public webcast assessing the short- and long-term human and economic effects of this pandemic on the International Education sector and their potential impact on international relations and cultural diplomacy worldwide.

Date: 11 June 2020
Time: 3 – 3:45pm
Venue: YouTube LIVE

This event is open to the public. Registration is essential, places strictly limited. For further enquiries contact: [email protected]
